Since 1978, The Kling Center was founded by Arthur S. Kling with Union support to provided assistance for seniors 55 and older who wish to enjoy active, healthy and live independent lives. As of 2024 The Center has expanded its mission to provide a range of services for the neighborhood as the Old Louisville Community Center
The Kling Senior Program offers free assistance from an on-site, staffed, social worker to help seniors navigate Medicare, Medicaid, and other benefits. We also partner with Meals on Wheels, delivering free, meals to homebound seniors.
The Kling program of the Old Louisville Community Center is a not - for-profit neighborhood community center, which still maintains its original mission to serve senior residents in the Old Louisville, Smoketown, and Shelby Park areas of Louisville KY.
Expanding Our Mission
Beginning in the winter of 2024, we will begin to offer parent and children meet ups at the center. The space is available to rent for a very low cost for community events such as birthdays, neighborhood association meetings, A.A., boy or girl scouts, book clubs, religious studies, seminars, yoga, and a whole host of other events that the community needs. There will be opportunities for single use or regular scheduled events.
Please reach out to us via email if you have any questions or interest!
Nutrition
One of the Center's most important services in the nutrition program. Visitors who are 60 years and over can enjoy a free well-balanced meal. Meals are being served Monday through Friday from 11:30 to 12:30pm.
Social Activities
Remaining active and connected to others is important to senior’s physical and mental well-being. We offer BINGO, Pool tournaments, corn hole, yoga, card tournaments, and many others. We create a welcoming, caring environment where they can meet new people laugh and just have a good time all while enjoying the activities.
Beginning in the winter of 2024, we will begin to offer parent and children meet ups at the center. We offer a free, once a month ballet class for the children followed by a playdate on Wednesdays or Thursday's mid-month.
We offer a variety of programs to help our clients. From socialization to mental health counseling, we provide the resources and support necessary to help individuals achieve their goals. We participate in the Metro Meal Program for our clients who attend the Center as well as those who are home-bound. Our programs include games, arts and crafts, lectures, bingo and musical programs.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
